Aberdeen Talks | A Journey Through Time with 3D Photogrammetry

We're delighted to welcome Douglas Leadingham to our Aberdeen Talks Series at Michies Union Street.

Douglas will give a talk called ‘A Journey Through Time Through 3D Photogrammetry’ which focuses on a chance discovery in 2020 of one of the best neolithic cup and ring carved stones found in Scotland in decades. This led him on an interesting hobby of recording by photogrammetry our ancient carved stones such as recumbent stone circles and Pictish Symbol Stones. He has latterly used a drone to model larger sites such as castles and hill forts. He now runs a Facebook group called ‘Aberdeenshire Rocks’ with 2700 members about such sites.

The cafe will be open in advance, so why not also grab lunch, tea/coffee or one of our amazing homemade tray bakes or cakes!
